Born in 1957, Canadian artist Antoine Bittar has been passionate with art since 1981 when he began full-time painting. He has participated in 24 solo and 35 group shows across Canada and has sketched in 19 countries since then. His main interest lies in the challenge of capturing and creating atmospheric impressions. Colour harmonies can be slightly enhanced or muted while unnecessary detail is often suppressed to heighten mood. The use of subtle values and ethereal textures give the work a quality which transcends the subject. The resulting images radiate with an aura of inner tranquility and mystery.
In accordance with his aesthetic taste, the artist feels a true contentment with the enduring qualities of simplified-realism or impressionist styles adapted to present day subject matter. Through this approach, the artwork reveals a personal signature both timeless and universal in it’s appeal. Undoubtedly his artistic and inner quests become linked to one another; soulful moments captured through contemplation beyond the visual plane where mind, sensibility and feelings can translate observation to a higher awareness.
